Magnificent Multiplication with the Awesome Abacus

Class Description

In this beginner multiplication class, learners in the 2nd and 3rd grade will be introduced to solving simple multiplication problems using an abacus.

In this class, learners will be introduced to solving simple multiplication problems using an abacus. We will create flash cards and then we will play a virtual game to help students learn their multiplication facts. During the game, learners can use their flashcards and abacus to help them solve problems.

Each week in this multiplication class, we will use an Abacus to explore different multiplication facts. This will be highly interactive course where kids will get to use an abacus and have fun playing with friends from class while learning multiplication.

This class requires a strong understanding of addition and a good ability to count.

This is an ongoing class so learners can join or leave this class at any time. Learners do not need to have attended any prior week in order to join in.

𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭: Students who are not familiar with navigating more than one computer window may need adult help setting up their game prior to class or at the beginning of class. Students will receive a link to the game prior to class. Students should have their game window pulled up in a separate browser window from zoom prior to class. Students can also join the game from a separate device.

-- Students that are on a tablet but only have one device can still join, however, they will be able to hear, be heard, and play during class but will not see their classmates or be seen in zoom when they have navigated to the game. Some students may need help navigating back to the zoom window on their device when they are done playing the game.
